A dance teacher from BURY hosted an epilepsy awareness event in memory of her friend’s daughter.
Bury College student Samantha Ahearn tragically died of an epileptic seizure on her graduation day.
Allison Bennett, who taught Samantha at Dance One Studios and maintained a friendship with her mother, Lynn, hosted a special day to raise money for the Sudden Expected Death in Epilepsy Action charity.
For each of her birthdays over the past seven years, Allison has hosted an event for a different charity, and this one will be no different.
Offering something different from the usual dance lessons, she organized a range of activities for her students, who wore purple SUDEP Actions t-shirts and left money in various donation buckets throughout the school. .
Allison even created a JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/alison-bennett-crowther3 which is still accepting donations.
She said: “It can be hard to draw attention to things these days without celebrity endorsements, but we’re doing our best because it’s an amazing cause.
“We are going to do everything we can to help people with this disease and their families who are going through things that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.”
