Energetic county fair organizer shares some tips

FORT ST. JOHN, BC – With the Energetic County Fair just days away, organizer Dale Plourde shares some tips for preparing community members for the three-day festival.

For parking, it will be limited to the streets around the exhibition center. Plourde encourages festival-goers to walk if they can.

All Pomeroy locations will have a shuttle for hotel guests. On Friday and Saturday, a school bus will be available for Energetic County Fairground guests from Chetwynd and Charlie Lake.

Plourde encourages attendees to bring and wear sunscreen as the weekend forecast could reach up to 24C.

Guests are advised to arrive 30 minutes to an hour before the start of the event to ensure no one misses the shows.

Plourde reminds guests that there will be a half-hour break between each act so people can grab food and drinks.

While there will be tables and chairs available, Plourde says guests can also bring their own chairs.

“You can bring your camp chairs and set yourself up, family and friends to find your spot. And it’s your place for the day or the weekend. It all depends on what you want,” he explained.

“If you arrive early you get the best spots.”

One thing that is not permitted, however, is outside food or drink.

“We want to prevent people from bringing in dangerous substances or alcohol, for example,” Plourde said.

Cash, debit and credit will be accepted at most vendors at the door.

Tickets are still available for purchase on lineand Plourde recommends getting them ahead of time rather than at the door because they might run out.
