A newly established promotional products company in South Yorkshire hailed a strong first quarter, buoyed by funding from the UKSE.
MAX Merchandise, a Rotherham-based promotional gifts distribution business specializing in branded goods, was set up by Andrew Swan in January 2022.
Swan has applied for a Seed Grant from the UKSE, which provides funding of up to £1.5m to growing businesses, as well as support for start-ups, enabling her to invest in stocks and marketing activities.
Named after Swan’s lockdown dog, Max, MAX Merchandise has a growing customer base and has increased revenue by 344% from its first month of trading.
The company is now looking for official commercial premises and aims to recruit in the coming months.
Andrew Swan said: “The launch of MAX Merchandise coincided with the relaunch of many events that had been put on hold due to the uncertainty caused by the lockdown and the pandemic.
“Demand for promotional products has exploded as a result, and I am absolutely delighted to say that we have since established a very loyal and rapidly growing customer base. There is particular demand from customers with a product or service to sell, and those exhibiting at major trade events.
“The UKSE grant gave me the financial boost I needed to pursue premium leads by proving the true value of my products. My goal is to run a respected business so the support from the beginning has been critical to our success to date.”
Steve Lyon, Regional Manager at UKSE, added: “Andrew is a great example of the entrepreneurial spirit we have seen prevail as we emerge from the pandemic. Andrew’s industry knowledge and established contacts have already given him a good start.
“We wish him good luck for the future.”
