The Oklahoma State University Museum of Art and OSU Art Advocates hosted the Masterpiece Moments 2022 event on May 14, showcasing the work and talent of area artists while embodying the spirit of the quote from Frank Sinatra “Orange is the happiest color”.

The evening featured many exciting silent auction items, unforgettable entertainment from Wade Tower, beautiful tablescapes designed by local artists and the OSU Art Advocates, and live paintings by student artists and the featured artist Christie Owen.

The event included remarks from former OSU President Burns Hargis and first cowgirl Ann Hargis and Vicky Berry, director and chief curator of the OSU Museum of Art. Malinda and Dick Fischer served as Honorary Chairs of the event and were celebrated for their tremendous support of the arts in Stillwater.

“The energy in the room with the artists, patrons and performers was exhilarating,” Berry said. “I am always amazed by the ambition and talent that our volunteers bring to this fundraising event, which allows us to bring great museum programming to our communities on and off campus. »

The evening raised more than $121,000 to support the OSU Art Museum’s educational mission by funding guest curators, guest artists, and the Public Schools Visual Literacy Project.

“The impact that Masterpiece Moments and the Art Advocates have on the museum and the community is tremendous,” said Cat de Araujo, curator of education at the OSU Museum of Art. “It allows the museum to fund artists, organize family events, and purchase art materials and technology used in tours. But the real and immeasurable impact occurs when Stillwater’s museum and arts educators are able to touch the lives of children who can find inspiration, acceptance and belonging in the arts.
