Richmond esports company announces plans to acquire Canadian gaming event organizer

The founders of Canada’s first esports gaming stadium are growing again with a new acquisition on the horizon.

TGS Esports Inc. (TGS), one of North America’s leading esports solution providers, recently announced plans to to acquire an esports tournament organizer Even Matchup Gaming Inc. (EMG).

“EMG is a property synonymous with esports. I’ve been a huge fan for a long time and I’m thrilled to be working with Joe and his team to help take EMG to the next level,” said Spiro Khouri, CEO of TGS in a statement.

“TGS works with many brands that are always looking for added value in this space. We can now open EMG events to our partners, creating more value while increasing revenue opportunities for TGS. »

EMG owns and operates a variety of high profile esports competitions including Get On My Level (GOML), Canada’s largest fighting game tournament, Let’s Make Big Moves, the largest Super Smash Bros. event. in the New York area and more.

GOML is the only Canadian tournament officially authorized by Nintendo. In 2020, GOML Online had over 3,000 competitors and over 10 million total minutes viewed.

TGS opened The Gaming Stadium in Richmond, BC in 2019 and has garnered an audience of over 18.2 million unique viewers and 50 million minutes watched since that year. They have partnered with Fortune 500 brands, schools, and tournament organizers to grow their esports communities. The company has also interacted with over 200,000 players through tournaments, production shows and events.

Another highlight of the contemplated acquisition includes TGS’s ability to provide EMG with access to its infrastructure, including the Pepper and Volcanic platform, to help grow its player base and expand into new cities.
