Four Waukesha-area restaurants came together to create delicious dishes using McDonald’s ingredients at the first annual Unwrapped Waukesha, a food-filled fundraiser to benefit SHARP Literacy.
The event will take place on Sunday, February 27 from 1-4 p.m. at Magellan’s on Main Street, 370 W. Main St. in Waukesha. All proceeds from the event will support the delivery of SHARP’s STEAM-based curriculum to thousands of students and educators at 49 schools in Milwaukee, Racine and Waukesha.
Participating restaurants in the inaugural event will include Albanese Truck Stop, Club 400, Daybreak Prime Meats and Deli and Magellan on Main Street. And every restaurant will face a new challenge: to incorporate Terrapin Coffee Oatmeal Stout into their savory or sweet unpackaged dishes.
In addition to the 45 elementary schools SHARP serves in Milwaukee and Racine, SHARP also delivers STEAM-based educational programs to hundreds of K-5 students at four Waukesha-area schools. In fact, establishing additional presence and visibility in this emerging community was the impetus for SHARP to bring the established Unwrapped event to the region.
“Waukesha has become a critical area for literacy programs,” said Lynda Kohler, president and CEO of SHARP Literacy. “We hope that by hosting this fundraising event in Waukesha, we can shine a light on the needs of the community, as well as the students and educators who work so diligently to make a difference.”
In addition to snacking and munching on sweet and savory bites, Unwrapped Waukesha Edition guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of raffles for themed baskets.
Customers are asked to bring non-perishable food items to Unwrapped, which will be donated to The FOOD Pantry Serving Waukesha County.
Tickets for Unwrapped Waukesha Edition are $50 per person and can be purchased online at waukesha22.givesmart.com or by calling (414) 410-3204.
