An American toy company has set the world record for the biggest reaction to elephant toothpaste. Guinness World Records reported the event from Los Angeles and the reaction measured 342.52 meters. It broke the previous reaction record in 2020 which measured 9,743 cubic feet and 1,157 cubic inches that enveloped an entire soccer field in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The record-breaking toy company is called KiwiCo and specializes in science-based toys. The company sells the products with the aim of keeping children’s curiosity and creativity alive and developing their scientific brain from an early age.
The experiment performed was known as the “Elephant’s Toothpaste”. This was done by adding hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to liquid dish soap with potassium iodide (KI) as a catalyst. The resulting foam covered 342.52 cubic meters, creating the largest elephant toothpaste reaction yet. The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide is responsible for the huge foam.
The video of the whole experiment is available on YouTube. It was released by Guinness World Records on their official YouTube channel. The video was posted three days ago on the channel on Wednesday, April 20. Since then, she has received over 79,000 views and over 1,300 likes.
The company was founded by Sandra Oh Lin to solve the problem of hands-on projects that are not properly done by children due to unavailability of materials and tons of research. According to the founder, this has been a barrier to creating creative confidence in children, which has helped them to think like producers and creators rather than just consumers. The aim was to develop problem-solving skills in children to ensure they learn to deal with real life challenges when they grow up.
