Winchester Half Marathon ‘marafun’ announces partnership with homebuilder Persimmon Homes

The WINCHESTER Half Marathon Fun Run has been supported by a UK home building company to help fund the Marshal’s Volunteer Groups.

Persimmon Homes has partnered with Rees Leisure to support the Winchester Marafun, which will take place on September 25, 2022. Rees Leisure launched the race in 2016, now offering participants two courses, a half marathon and a hilly 10km through the historic streets and countryside of Winchester.

Under the agreement, Persimmon Homes, a British home building company, will donate £200 to the dozens of community groups and sports teams who have volunteered to organize the race and help the runners. Voluntary groups include local college sports clubs, scout groups, girl guides, women’s institutes and running clubs.

Chris Rees, Founder of Rees Leisure said, “We couldn’t put on this amazing race without the help of all the community groups and volunteers involved. I am extremely happy that we have on board partners like Persimmon who are able to support the groups that help make this event possible.

“The event appears to be a real highlight of the Hampshire sporting calendar”

Ian Beal, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “The Winchester Marafun is in every sense a community and family event and we are delighted to support this brilliant spectacle through the iconic streets and stunning scenery of Winchester.

“From our sponsorship of Team GB to the Winchester Marafun, we want to create a positive legacy in the areas where we build homes. Encouraging people to lead active, healthy lives while supporting local groups and sports teams is a powerful way to do this. »
